A Little Parental Gushing

I'm amazed lately at how big my little boy is becoming. Desperately in need of new PJs (see photo below) he got a lot of them for Christmas. All looked impossibly huge. Surely they wouldn't fit for months. But they did. Perfectly. How did he get so tall?

Here's Calvin in his pre-Christmas PJs. Yeah, time for some new ones.
Also, he is totally asleep in this photo. Looks really comfortable.
Zach pointed out to me the other night when we were looking at him sleeping in his Thomas bed that he will soon be too tall for it. What?! That's crazy! He's now less than a head shorter than his cousin Violet (5) and just a little more than a head shorter than his cousin Annabel (7). How is that possible?

In some of his new Christmas PJs. 4Ts. Sheesh.
And he is in all ways a little boy and far from toddlerhood. He has funny ideas, tells bizarre jokes, plays with Legos, and enjoys a trip to the coffeeshop.

That's chocolate milk, not coffee. If Calvin drinks coffee he
"would puke and get sick" in his words.
He's rinsing off dirty dishes in the sink. He's sorting laundry. He gets up from playing and goes to the bathroom on his own. He feeds the dog. He feeds pop cans into the return machines at the grocery store. He's becoming quite the little helper.

And we found out last week that he has gotten to sit at the "star table" in his new classroom at school four times already, and he's only been in that room for 6 days. His new teacher wrote us a note one day that said that he is always a good listener, even when his friends are not. We're very proud of the sweet little boy he's becoming. If you ask Calvin why he's so sweet, he replies, "Because Jesus made me sweet." I think he's right.

He's a cutie! My son just turned 12. It's shocking how quickly they grow up. Enjoy him.
