Cool Green on a Hot Day

garden
One gets a special little thrill when one goes out to water the garden and sees signs of new life, tiny plants that hold within their delicate structure the promise of a great harvest.
On a day that promises a heat index of 96 degrees you want to get out early to drench the garden.
At 7am it was already nearing 80 degrees.
But in the warm, still morning, when the rays of the sun are yet gentle, you can find soft beauty in growing things.
Especially the delicate flowers and leaves of dill.
Already I've been using dill, chives, mint, and tarragon from the garden. And I am looking forward to a summer full of good things.
